Welcome
Cat of the Month

Blanche is now top of our list for re-homing as she has been with us since the beginning of May. Too long! Quite a cantankerous old lady when she arrived, she has reversed the normal trend and become younger and friendlier by the day. She is now in very much better health than when she arrived, sports a Persil white coat instead of the claggy yellow one and has a fine set of teeth which help her to eat and groom properly.

She is now friendly and affectionate and loves to be groomed and fussed. She is also surprisingly playful considering we believe she is about 14 years old. She yearns to have a home of her own and be part of a family. We think she has probably been confined to a pen for many, many years while she was in the care of another cat sanctuary. Now is the time to give her her freedom and a chance to have a bit of enjoyment in life!

Other cats in need of new homes can be viewed on our Rogues Gallery page

We still have quite a stock of mature cats in need of new homes. They have become homeless through no fault of their own and yearn for that kind-hearted person to see them through their final days. Take a look at Bobby in our Rogues Gallery! The vet told us he was about 8! More like 18 if you ask us! We think he has probably been homeless most of his life as he had not been castrated when he arrived. A sweeter, gentler fellow you couldn't wish to meet! He is in seventh heaven now, relishing regular meals he hasn't had to search for and sleeping contentedly in his comfortable bed where he is safe from interference from humans or other animals. It would be lovely to find someone to give him a home of his own for those final years.

Like Bobby, most older cats are undemanding, calm, home-loving cats who are clean about the house, do not worry you by staying out until the wee small hours and only want a warm place to sleep. Most elderly cats eat very little but, like babies, benefit from more frequent meals so they are ideally suited to someone who is at home much of the time and can pander to their every whim!

We will be happy to pay for future vets' bills in exchange for accommodation and love for these special cats.

Latest Purr

The article in "The Review" has also brought forth two new volunteers who will shortly be joining the team. Sara is going to be helping us with some of the interminable paperwork and Sarah will be joining us as a new fosterer. Both are extremely welcome and we look forward to getting to know them and having our workload reduced by their contributions. Thank you both.

Statistics

As a result of the recent article in "The Review", we re-homed no less that nine elderly or nervous cats in one week!

Very many thanks to "The Review" for such a sorely needed boost to our morale.

Interestingly, many of the new owners said that they had been "thinking" of taking on an older cat for some time but hadn't got around to it. If there are any more of you "thinking" about it out there, we still have plenty of cats longing for new homes!

NEWS ITEM

Please take a look at our News and Views page to read the story of Biffa and see if you can help us to help him.

Tigger and Corny have, at long last, found the perfect home near Lydney. They have the choice of two houses as their new owner's daughter and son-in-law live next door. Despite being re-homed only at the end of July, they have already bashed their way through the locked cat flap, sauntered round the garden and strolled back in for supper!

We think they're perfectly happy with their new abode!
